Matt Lux Captures Back-to-Back Wins at McKean Co. and Lernerville!

Franklin, PA (May 10, 2009) Matt Lux and his M3 Motorsports, Inc. race team had one of their most successful weekends in a long time after winning the ULMS sanctioned ‘Jim Duffy Memorial’ at McKean County Speedway in Smethport, PA on Thursday, May 6 and winning at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, PA the following night.

Lux, who debuted a brand new MasterSbilt chassis a few weeks ago, climbed into his old Rocket Chassis for the $2,000 to-win ‘Jim Duffy Memorial’.  Matt would start the event in the sixth slot and work his way up to second by the fifth circuit behind race leader Greg Oakes.  Oakes slowed coming out of turn two handing the lead over to Lux on lap 14.  Matt held off a late race surge from rising star Gregg Satterlee to collect his first win of the young 2010 season.

The following night at Lernerville Speedway Lux would draw the number two starting spot for the feature event and claim the lead as the green flag dropped.  Matt would lead until he caught lapped traffic on lap 11 and relinquish the lead to Satterlee.  Lux stalked Satterlee in his brand new Equipment World Magazine / DICA / Maloney Tool & Mold / Wedge Motorsports / Cornett powered MasterSbilt Chassis #21 until the two caught lapped traffic again on lap 22.  This time it was Matt who used the lapped traffic to his advantage to regain the lead and take his first checkered flag in the brand new MasterSbilt Chassis.

The team then made their way to Bluegrass Speedway in Bardstown, KY for the $10,000 to-win, World of Outlaws Late Model Series sanctioned ‘My Old Kentucky Home Shootout’.  Matt would qualify 17th out of the 40 cars that signed in and finish eighth in his heat sending him into a B-Main.  Lux would fight his way to the third and final transfer spot behind Eric Wells and Rick Eckert to punch his ticket to the 50-lap main event.  Matt climbed up to the 13th spot from his 21st starting position before retiring on lap 39 giving him a 23rd place finish in his first trip to the Kentucky speed plant.

‘Keith and Tader at MasterSbilt Chassis have been absolutely remarkable to work with so far,’ Matt said.  ‘They have really made the transition very smooth and have been available to me anytime I’ve needed them.  I’m really comfortable in the new car and it seems to fit my driving style.’  Lux continued, ‘The first time I climbed in it, I put it in the wall at Sharon during a practice session, but even then I was very comfortable in it.  We still have a lot of work to do to get better with it but I feel we are heading in the right direction.’

Matt and the M3 Autosports Inc. team will be in action next Saturday and Sunday with the O’Reilly All Star Late Model Series at Hilltop Speedway in Millersburg, OH on Saturday and the grand re-opening of West Virginia Motor Speedway in Mineral Wells, WV on Sunday.  The ‘Millersburg 40’ at Hilltop will pay $4,000 to the winner while the ‘Mark Balzano Memorial’ at WVMS will pay $5,000 to the winner.

Matt Lux Wins Lernerville’s Steel City Stampede, World Finals to Close 2009

Franklin, PA (October 28, 2009) Matt Lux and his M3 Motorsports, Inc. race team has fought off demons all year long.  The team has traveled more in 2009 than in the past hitting 38 total sanctioned events, but has had their share of bad luck while competing in two countries and ten different states.

‘We’ve just been off all year,’ Lux said.  ‘Recently we’ve been much better but still not where we need or want to be.  We started the year with the new style Rocket Chassis and we worked real hard to get a grasp of it, I was getting more comfortable in the car, but we weren’t performing any better.  So we chose to switch back to the old style black front end Rocket.  Since then, we’ve been much better and I’ve been much more comfortable.’

The last month of the season has seen dramatic improvement from the M3 Motorsports Inc. Racing Team as Matt has finished outside of the top ten just once since September 19.  ‘We can still be proud about that one finish outside of the top ten,’ Lux said.  ‘We finished 24th at the Dirt Track World Championships out at Lawrenceburg (IN) Speedway.  But we qualified seventh and with the season we’ve had, that’s a victory in itself.’  Lux’s strong qualifying effort landed him the fastest time provisional for the $50,000 to win event but after 34 laps, Matt pulled in with steering issues on his AlturnaMATS® / Equipment World Magazine / DICA / Maloney Tool & Mold / Wedge Motorsports, Cornett powered Rocket Chassis #21.

This past weekend the gremlins were finally thwarted as Matt held off challenges from Jared Miley, Gregg Satterlee, and 2009 World of Outlaws Rookie of the Year contender Russel King to claim his first victory of the season at the 1st Annual ‘Steel City Stampede’ at Lernerville Speedway.

‘I almost don’t know how to act,’ Lux said with a look of relief on his face after the event.  ‘It’s been so long since we’ve won something, I’m not sure I know how to react to this.  The car has been better so hopefully this gives us a little momentum going down to Charlotte for the (World) Finals.’

Matt and the M3 Motorsports Inc. team will be in action next weekend, November 5-6-7 for the World of Outlaws Late Model Series sanctioned World Finals at The Dirt Track @ Lowes Motor Speedway in Charlotte, NC.  Qualifying for both shows will take place on Thursday, Nov 5 while two separate $10,000 to-win events will take place on Friday, Nov, 6 and Saturday, Nov 7.  The event will crown the champion of both World of Outlaws Sprints and Late Models and will close out the 2009 season for Matt Lux and the M3 Motorsports Inc. Team.
