Tim Fuller Joins Kennedy Motorsports
July 13, 2012 in Driver News, Tim Fuller
Watertown, NY (July 11, 2012) Tim Fuller will open a new chapter in his racing career beginning July 25 at Utica Rome Speedway in Vernon, NY when he will enter his first event as driver of the Kennedy Motorsports owned, Core Construction, Kennedy Partners sponsored Capital Race Cars #19. The move comes as Fuller was about to be forced off the World of Outlaws Late Model Series tour for the first time since he began following the series full time in 2007.
Fuller will remain a regular on the World of Outlaws Tour as a teammate to 2012 Dream 100 winner Shane Clanton of Fayetteville, GA. Clanton will continue to operate out of his Georgia shop while Fuller will be based in his Watertown, NY shop. ‘This is definitely something that I had to do,’ Fuller emphatically said, ‘everything has happened so quickly, but there’s no doubt this is something that I had to do.’ Fuller, team owner John Kennedy, and Kennedy Motorsports driver Shane Clanton spoke on Monday and worked out the deal. ‘Driving a race car is how I make my living, if I continued on with my own stuff, I wouldn’t survive.’
Tim is beyond excited to work with team owner John Kennedy and new teammate affectionately known as ‘Coconut’, ‘I can’t thank John enough for this opportunity, and it’s exciting to become a part of a team that is committed to putting the best equipment under their driver’s.’ Fuller continued, ‘To get into a Capital Race Car, (the chassis that Clanton developed with former Dirt Track World Championship winner Marshall Green), and become a part of what Shane and Marshall Green are building, to be able to bounce information off Shane and help make these cars better, it was really a no-brainer for me. I’ve never had an actual teammate before,’ Tim said, ‘but Clanton and I have always gotten along well and have always had the same type of goals, we’ll be able to work together and push each other to become more successful.’
Fuller’s results have taken a hit since forming his own team during the 2011 season. Tim completed the entire 2011 World of Outlaws schedule with only one car but went winless for the first time since joining the series in 2007. ‘This is like a whole new beginning for me as a dirt late model driver,’ Fuller bottom-lined. ‘My days of traveling with the Outlaws were numbered; this not only keeps me on the road, but this also gives me a fresh start. A new team, a new car, fresh equipment, the stars lined up perfectly for this to happen, and it couldn’t have happened at a better time.’
Tim will be in action for the first time in his new Core Construction, Kennedy Partners, B3 Architecture & Planning, IronCo Enterprises, Urban Energy Solutions, Capital Race Cars sponsored #19 at Utica-Rome Speedway (Vernon, NY) on Wednesday, July 25 and Thursday, July 26 at Fonda (NY) Speedway for two separate $10,000 to-win Lucas Oil Late Model Series events before heading to Shawano (WI) Speedway on Wednesday, August 1 for a $10,000 to-win World of Outlaws Series event that precedes the huge $50,000 to-win ‘USA Nationals’ at Cedar Lake Speedway on Friday and Saturday, August 3 & 4, also sanctioned by the World of Outlaws Late Model Series.
